You're right mate, as I said earlier most of these examples are over forty years old, from the 1970's. Maybe that's classed as "new" music to some I dunno! Do some people hibernate one wonders?

Anyways how can anyone open a thread stating "Lets see how up to date you lot are".
I mean the forum is for over 50's surely that tell's you something.
I believe anyone that is under 50 on here should be hunted down and done for trespassing..
If any are found to be young lady's aged between 30 and 49 I will volunteer to give them their punishment.

I've just watched both episodes of the accompanying BBC4 series entitled so-called "Yacht Rock". Apart from suffering the intensely annoying female presenter for two hours, it's basically a re-brand of the predominently West Coast easy listening sound of 1970's-early 80's USA, obviously cashing in to sell CDs under this awful new name.
The Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Christopher Cross, Hall & Oates and the brilliant (and surprisingly hilarious personalities) of Toto all contributed.
But how far do you go? When MTV came along and we then find Michael Jackson and George Benson entering the equation....No, sorry but that's pop-soul music.
AOR/soft rock/drivetime/feelgood rock - call it what you will but "Yacht Rock" is a truly hideous terminology for this beautifully-produced area of popular music.
