Puppies for Kids.

Hi

A neighbouring house has Happy Birthday plastered all over it.

Single Mum, two girls, oldest 6 today.

Mum normally works part time when the kids are in school.

A puppy arrived after the kids went to school, it is yelping like mad.

There is a Birthday Party this afternoon, loads of excitable young girls.

This is not the best start for a puppy in a new home.

No I agree, they need peace and quiet, it's not a toy. Hopefully it will teach the kids how to care for things and bring much joy to the family but you never know!

Re: Puppies for Kids.

Aww, the poor baby. The mom's head isn't on straight. Too much trauma and handling on the first day home will be exhausting for the poor pup. She's clearly thinking more about herself than the puppy or even the daughter.

BTW, I think that if one is away from home too much, one should get two dogs not one. Dogs are highly social creatures who can suffer from boredom and loneliness that too often leads to destruction. That means one has to truly be ready financially, physically, and emotionally to bring what is essentially two toddlers into the house.

I feel sorry for the dog.

Hi

I have tried for a rescue dog TessA.

I am retired, took early retirement.

I have a large dog proof garden.

I have kept dogs previously.

Refused on the grounds of age.

Such is life.

Re: Puppies for Kids.

What do you mean - a puppy 'arrived' Swim?
How did it arrive?

Can these people not imagine what it is like to be snatched away from your mother, brothers and sisters, and everything familiar, with no explanation whatsoever, then find yourself dumped in a strange place - all alone?

So many people stupid, irresponsible people involved here, right from the person who sold the puppy, to the selfish woman who bought it.

As you can guess, I feel so angry and best say no more.

Poor puppy, not a good environment to introduce it into a family, screaming children at a birthday party is the last thing it needs.

People should have to through an assessment before being permitted to own a dog.

Really! I think that is terrible. Here they are crying out for people to take on older dogs. I'm sure you would qualify.

Keep trying Swims
I got refused because of nonsensical reasons .
My garden might have foxes and cats running through ! ??????
Well they might but not in vast quantities I have only ever seen one !
The fields around have stock in them !
( hello there is this invention the dog lead ) living in the country it's quite usual for fields to have stock in them .

Basically too often the homecheckers or foster parents are gate keepers they want a perfect home not a good home .
That is why almost all dog homes are all bursting at the seams .
