It's an electronic beep which sounds just like the warning beep on a smoke detector...but as I've said, mine are all wired. It's quite loud so is not a notification on my phone or iPad, I know what they sound like.

It wasn't too intrusive last night - I slept OK but it started again at around 10am for 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure it is actually one of the smoke detectors with some kind of fault (I have 4 plus a heat alarm in the kitchen).

Ffosse, are you sure they don’t have a battery in as well? Ours are wired but have one of those square batteries in too. How strange that you haven’t been able to trace the beep!

Last night we heard several beeps as well, couldn’t believe it as I’d just posted on this thread. Turned out it was on an interview on the telly, they apologised for it after. I wonder how many people checked their alarms like I did!

No, it's definitely coming from my house and I don't see any battery compartment in them.

Dreamie, wired smoke alarms have a battery back up. The compartment is on the side We just done DILs today, Hers was a push through, ours you push and it springs out
