TM may have 'lost' another few thousand votes.

TM has committed the scumbag 'nasty party' to actually building HS2. This may have lost her thousands of 'nasty party' votes in constituencies all along the proposed route.

Which only goes to prove her honesty and commitment.
Not just making decisions on getting votes.

Which pretty much counters your argument that the Tories are only for their own supporters, as the line leads to the labour heartlands of the industrial north who are welcoming the development.

Personally I think the whole project will be a huge white elephant and should be scrapped pronto, it has cost nearly 2 billion already and not a yard of track laid yet...

That was inevitable, I would wager most of that cost has been in planning and compulsory purchase orders.

True Spitty, and from experience we all know that once this gravy train really gets going the runaway costs will bear no resemblance to estimates, as all public works inevitably do.

I agree, and once again, just like the M6 Toll, which should be a little Goldmine on paper, years on, languishes as a financial nightmare.

Under normal circumstances I would probably agree with you, what with that and refusing to cut foreign Aid but we are in the unusual position of having no viable opposition.

I don't understand how £56m can be justified when we have perfectly good rail links to these cities. I suspect they have already spent so much money and committed to prohibitive exit fees on contracts, so they don't want to pull out. That's always the worst reason for carrying on.

As well as the utter waste of money, this beautiful 250 year old wild Pear tree in Cubbington Woods, Warwickshire, that won the 'Tree of The Year' award in 2015 will be felled to make way for the HS2.
It is scandalous and tragic.

That's a beautiful tree Artangel and what a lovely meadow being ruined for this money-wasting, pointless nonsense.
