Clean it up and see if there are any markings on it....it might be ancient and valuable

It's a common or garden U-bolt, possibly from a car exhaust. There will have been another part, usually made of pressed steel with a brace of holes in it, to fit across the open end.A pair of nuts and washers would have been used to hold the whole clamp in place.
