I made my decision a long time ago to avoid buying anything French: cars, cheese, wine (though, like Dracula, I never drink wine), etc. After all, they are our natural enemy.

I'd certainly agree with that. Like the above, I never eat halal food!

Totally agree with you Bread. Halal and Kosha slaughtering methods are barbaric in the extreme.

Typical of that region. They treat men the way they slaughter their pigs

I don't know about Kosha but Halal slaughtering is not barbaric. Australian abattoirs produce Halal certified meat. All animals are stunned prior to slaughter - it's the law.

I have no problems with Halal certification Vegemite is Halal certified and how yummy is that?

Why would you shut your products out of a market of 24% of the world's population?

"In the UK, 58 percent of Halal meat comes from animals which have been stunned before slaughter and certified Halal.
All animals slaughtered under the Shechita (for Kosher) are non-stunned."

100% of all animals should be stunned before slaughter whether for religious zealots or not.

Believe it or not, we are living in 2020, not 620.

Hi

I appreciate that, which is why I want all religious slaughter banned, both Muslim and Jewish.

I also want all Halal and Kosher meat clearly labelled as such.

Re: US trade deal

We can now change our labelling laws and while we are at it let's bring back local slaughterhouses to stop live animals being driven hundreds of miles in lorries up and down our motorways where they are distressed, freezing cold and in horrible conditions.

EU, so your, rules require compulsory labelling of halal meat, since 2010.

Those animals travelled for weeks without water of proper feeding. Ending up in all sorts of countries, not only EU countries .Sold on and sold on.
I believe Boris has already addressed that issue. EU laws ruled on the live meat trade from this country (and others) much of it going to Arab countries. Only in November a ship of 14,000 sheep sank off Romania on it's way to Saudi Arabia. About 150 were rescued and survived.
Boris did say he would stop live meat exports once we left .
The other thing too, was the money EU gave to our farmers to produce what the EU wanted, that in my opinion was nothing more than a slow but deliberate move to eventually take control of land through the back door as they are already doing in some other countries.

One other fact I realised last night is that Denmark's main export is the largest exporter of mink skins in the world . Worth Euro's 0.5 billion . Poland another , breeding foxes and other animals for coats . The way they are kept and killed is horrific.Animal cruelty in Europe is horrendous and they are a long way behind in most of those countries, and nothing is changing. I wonder which countries buy mink pelts ? Also wonder what Denmark will do about their plastic lego in the near future.
