The term African American goes back to 1988 when member of many black groups met to discuss a new National Black agenda.Jesse Jackson said that members of their race preferred to be called “African-American” and led a successful campaign to replace the term “Black”. He said that to be called “African-American” has cultural integrity and puts them into their proper historical context. After all, other ethnic groups in America were already described in this way... Italian-Americans, Armenian-Americans and Arab-Americans to Name but a few.
Where exactly is your problem people?

Where exactly is your problem people?
I'm a Yid, but am quite content to be English. Family wise my wife and Il could claim to be Jewish English, Jewish British, or from a (relatively recent) family domicile history Russian English.
If these schwartzers are so hung up on their African connection there is one very simple solution.
