My daughter is a lesbian.
I'm a heterosexual. As is my husband. Yet, we don't call each other that. We're not labelled with that. Oh, didn't you know - she's a heterosexual! Silly, right?!
To me, my kid is a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a half-sister, a niece. a cousin, an aunt, a friend, but, most of all, she's a person.
She's a person who feels love, feels pain, feels happiness, feels hurt, and every other emotion.
And I love her to piece
I'm not saying anybody here is labelling. I'm just so tired of how humans as a whole treat other humans.
Excellent post, and I totally agree.

It wouldn't be an issue for us.

No issue for me either. My philosophy was, “If you make it to your eighteenth birthday you can do whatever you want with your own life so long as you don’t deliberately hurt yourself or anyone else in the process.

I also said “If you love me you will take care of yourself.”

Yeah, labels are awful with regard to sex. Heck look at the label I have had to live with all my adult life ...

Re: Your Child Tells You He/She Is Gay

I would still love my son no matter what his sexual preferences had turned out to be. I have friends whose children are gay, they are still the same people I knew as children. The only thing that annoys me is that one of the mothers, although accepting that her son is gay refuses to call his partner "partner", even though they have been together now for 15 years or more, and still refers to the partner as "his friend".
