The man who kept every holiday snap he ever took

Well worth a look at this stunning collection of history and memories

Britain's biggest collection of snaps from around the world that document the golden age of travel over 50 years (and no, there's not a selfie in sight)

Gordon Bray, from Swindon, meticulously kept details of jaunts he went on with his late wife in 200 binders. They come complete with photographs, pamphlets and detailed descriptions hammered out on his typewriter. He kept thousands of pictures from the couple’s trips to Russia, Brazil, Canada, the US, Australia and Europe

His brother-in-law found the collection when he started clearing out Gordon's house, after he went into a care home

That is just incredible Solo...thanks for posting about it ,its really interesting seeing a few of the photos and mementos that he has documented.
What a mind to be able to remember so much about his holidays and then to document them like this when he gets home Id like to see more of his collection.

We have a 5 Album Aeroplane Collection that someone had put together over 50yrs or more, every picture and postcard had been documented just the same and some of them were very rare with autographs from the pilots that flew them... We bought them in a charity shop for £40, my hubby said that it would have been a shame if the whole collection had been split up..
Since buying them we have found out that a few of these photo's could be worth a lot of money
And a lot of the postcards that are similar are sold on ebay for £5 each..
There's about 400 pictures and postcards altogether.

We even thought about letting the albums go to a museum of some kind that would appreciate them...

Wow! That was a great article. I wish I'd done the same, so that the holidays and trips could be 'revisited' by me!

It is good that collections like this are being made available on the Internet. Future historians will be able to access this data in ways that we cannot anticipate today.
