Decks

As in decorations...
Christmas ones

Do you bother?
Do you do traditional or blingy?
Real tree or not?

Do you get actual holly, mistletoe, ivy
Do you make your own?

We have been getting a real tree over the past 3 years..I love the smell
and since changing the decor downstairs I'm wanting to go more nature inspired this year but white fairy lights will still be everywhere

I do love Christmas but I never kid myself that it's any more than a just a couple of days to get together with friends and family

Re: Decks

We buy a real tree which we put up outside our french windows. Cover it with lights. Not really many decorations indoors, but we still hang our XMas cards up.

I have some icicle lights, snowman,,,they will go in the kitchen window.

I also have a nativity globe, which lights up...

That's about it,Rhian.

The one thing I love to do....usually around beginning of Dec..

Is walk around the estates, with Jack.....looking at all the outside Christmas decorations,lights....some must spend a fortune.

You have now got me thinking.....I may put up the lights and snowman tonight...

Re: Decks

I do like to see the decorations at Christmas, I get a lovely warm feeling at that time of the year but regretfully not for religious reasons.

I used to put lots of decorations up in our house, mainly for the children and grandchildren but in the past few years I have cut down on a lot of them. We can no longer risk climbing step ladders to put decorations on the ceiling, everything had to be easy to reach now. One thing I will have every year though is the Christmas tree ..... as long as someone can get it out of the loft for me!

We go to Cardiff for a day out every year to see all their lights and decs, it's always a lovely atmosphere there.

Re: Decks

Every year I get the job of licking the coloured strips of paper to make the chains followed by the job of hanging them from the centre, above the lamp shade to each corner. Then comes the four dangly opening foil things that go in between.

I'm joking of course.

Re: Decks

Real tree. some white lights around the miniature tree in the front garden. Cards go inside the display cabinets. I guess these days they will not be considered eco-friendly. But then what is?

Re: Decks

I don't have a tree at home, though I do, do a bit of decorating the front porch.
Daughter & I dress a tree for charity, daughters boss donates to the charity, every year & we supply the decorations, think it must be soon too. There are several trees & they are displayed in the Theatre Royal in Plymouth, the charity is the NSPCC every year.

Re: Decks

I have a fibre optic tree I like to put up. Doubt I’ll get so many cards this year, having moved away, (all the neighbours in my block, and some more from the estate) but then again I never did get a lot, lol. I have a Santa model in the spare room, and bought a new item recently. I don’t know how I’m going to make this place very Christmassy, but will try.
