It Was 20 Years Ago Today

Doesn't time fly? It hardly seems possible that it was 20 years ago that "the best Olympic Games ever" was held in Sydney.

Everything about it was spectacular and nothing has come close before or since. It was a suitable event for the start of the new Millennium

Unfortunately those miserable bastards at the IOC won't let you watch the videos on this site.

Re: It Was 20 Years Ago Today

Just remind me how much the forgettable games lost. As for the IOC pres saying the games were the best ever the pres ALWAYS says that though I think that might not be the case for the Atlanta games as a result of an American twat setting off a pipe bomb there killing one person and injuring over a hundred.

You can't post about the Oz Olympics without this:

The 2000 Olympics gave us the "The Games" and the gymnastics with Roy and HG - I laughed and laughed.

"Hello Boys" and the "Battered Sav" moves.

Bruce..mate. Did you really think you would get any kind of positive comment about the Sydney Olympics let alone agreement that it was the best games ever. (BTW Art you know damned well that the IOC Pres does not and has not said that about all games) on this site?!...YOu would have more chance of getting blood to flow from a million year old rock. I wouldn't have bothered. But having said that, I was here. I was part of it. And I can tell you it was beyond awesome. The organisation and public service was fantastic. There were no hiccups. Everybody..and I mean every single person I spoke to from all over the world said it was excellent. And that's enough for me.

I don't mind, easy to ignore.

I don't have much interest in sport but there are some moments that transcend that, Kathy Freeman's 400 metre run was up there with Torvil and Dean at the Winter Olympics in 1984. You don't need to know anything about it to know it was special.

Re: It Was 20 Years Ago Today

What surprised me was to realise that Jimmy Hendrix died exactly fifty years ago on the 15th of this month. FIFTY YEARS! Good grief, where does the time go. I would say that he was the best "axe man" of all time.

Correction, eighteenth of this month.
