Presumably the proposed announcement will be worded so it excludes no one and includes all. Who would complain about that (except some fictional Lady or Gentleman and Mr Angry of Mayfair)? It's a straw man argument.

I take your point. I doubt if anyone did complain about it, just the theatres jumping on one of the many bandwagons touring Britain at the moment. There are only two sexes, male & female and that would cover everyone in the audience, even if people took their pets with them. If someone wishes to alter their sex, why would they not be happy about being called that sex? Surely the theatres are denying them recognition if anything.
