CureVac CEO Franz-Werner Haas was bitterly disappointed by the study’s conclusions. "As we are continuing toward the final analysis with a minimum of 80 additional cases, the overall vaccine efficacy may change.” he said.
After the interim results, the European Commission said it would need to wait for final results and the assessment of the EU drugs regulator before taking any steps, the European Commission’s deputy chief spokeswoman Dana Spinant said yesterday.
She explained: "The information that is about the efficacy rate seems to point to some preliminary, or not complete or final results.
“Of course, it will be important for us to have the final set of complete results regarding efficacy before taking any steps or proceeding in our discussions with the company.”
So, even though this particular vaccine is a blow out (even worse than the Sinovac one), the EU is still trying to say it will be fine come the final analysis. All I can say is, thank God V and I have had our 2 shots of the AZ vaccine.

So it looks likely the EU may be reduced to using the hated

Germany, France, and certainly the 'lesser nations': none of them can really compete with us when it really matters.That's why the EU is completely lost without us, and it shows! It shows by the way they constantly try to belittle us...
and repeatedly fail!
Even with Boris playing the fifth-columnist and handing them virtually everything they demand of us, we are still leaving them behind.
A shame, because we could work together well as allies...
except for our enemies, the Frogs, of course.

We've been to Germany several times and found the German people friendly and welcoming.
Unlike the Frogs, I feel that you know where you are with the Germans.
On the other hand, when we've been to France (only once or twice) we have found some of the people out in the sticks to have been OK as well.
Paris is a completely different kettle of fish (or frogs perhaps), though!
Taking the opportunity to go way off-topic now, our many dozens of tadpoles earlier this spring have now grown legs and arms. A few have now managed to crawl out of the pond and have been seen exploring along the patio and paths. Still only tiny: no more than half an inch.
Isn't nature fascinating?
