You're talking about the pancake theory.
Many highly respected engineers have also said it should
not have happened. Especially as the rate of collapse was free fall speed.
That aside, main support beams were found to have high temperature 45 deg cuts, more than likely caused by thermite. 45 deg cuts in supports is a common method used to make a building collapse in demolition.
All the remaining steel (evidence?), was cleared from site asap and smelted before it could be examined in depth - why??
As I said, this debate will never end and I doubt we'll ever find the truth of what really went on that day.
Bear in mind that these buildings were also designed to withstand the impact of an aircraft.
