They do, Apricot, and yes time does move on. Nobody would go to see a Bond film if it didn't have anything exciting to see in it made possible by special effects.

Casino Royale was originally a very early book by Ian Fleming. It was only in recent times that it brought to the silver screen (unless of course you count the diabolical spoof starring David Niven in 1967!)
