OMG I just turned to River Cottage Autumn and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall is making a squirrel stew! He's even telling people where they can source dead squirrels.

There is a pub in town that serves Squirrel pie, and Pigeon pie - apparently both are quite popular. Not fancied either of them myself.

Seem to be missing them at the moment, will need to rig up some way of notification when tgey are around, I did have a sensor thing but threw it out recently as it was cluttering upt he place, which is always the way.

Yay our squirrels are back, we were a bit worried about them they all went missing at beginning of December, but today they arrived back and there are no longer just three a fourth has joined them. Was very much missing their little acrobatic displays and how they taunt the magpies and cats. I've put some food out for them for the morning so hopefully now they are back they will enjoy that.

Wonder where they've been, has someone else tempted them away ?

If the weather has been cold they may have been sleeping. Although they do not hibernate as such - squirrels do not like to be too cold and tend to stay in their cosy dreys!

Gosh I couldn't eat squirrel pie....poor Mr Squirrel !

Where I used to live there were 100s of squirrels the lady next door used to catch them in humane traps then release them a couple of miles away....we used to laugh that the squirrels made it back home before she did.
