Michael Rowland is a fairly well known ABC TV journalist in Australia. He hosted the ABC Breakfast Show for years. Recently he took up a job as the ABCs Washington corespondent. The wrote an article about his recent trip from Melbourne to the USA.

It is not a long piece but the contrast between the two countries in the age of Covid is fascinating.

I just came across this graph in the Grauniad showing new cases per million population. It illustrates the problem Europe is facing at the moment with a second wave.

About time!

Queensland will open its border to New South Wales from 1:00am on November 3, but it will remain closed to Greater Sydney and Victoria, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says.

Ms Palaszczuk said the decision — which has been made on the eve of the state election — was based on the advice of the Chief Health Officer, who is concerned about community transmission of the virus in southern states.

Wollongong is not one of the 32 LGAs listed as being part of Greater Sydney. Free at last!

It is quite incredible to see how these figures have increased over just a few months. Quite frightning when you think this could go on for years more.

Looking at the figures for just a month ago it seems incredible that the UK as passed 1 million cases, it just shows how volatile this disease is.
