Sometimes I'm in Waitrose with a Sainsbury bag, an M&S bag and a Coop bag! That should keep them on points all day! Royal Ballet, eat your heart out!

I was driving a 'sweatbox' for the local constabulary and the place I was going was Middlesex Crown Court....which is right behind Harrods. Having unloaded the occupants,I went for a wander-and the rear loading-bay of Harrods was open. There was a bloke stacking Harrods carrier bags right in the door and we had a brief chat. I told him I was the driver of the sweatbox he'd just seen easing into the court building-and he gave me a HUGE stack of Harrods carrier bags,saying what I was doing was both 'courageous' [HIS words] and 'amazing'....apparently,having a vehicle full of murderers and kiddy-fiddlers is respected...hmm...Anyway,I accepted with good grace-and as a result,many people I know go shopping in Lidl's,swinging a Harrods carrier bag...yeah,I know-but it's true. Image-conscious bullshine...annoying...
