He claims he stayed within the guidelines . . . yeah, but not the spirit of the guidelines . . what the hell's wrong with this country ?

They think they are above the law! He should be forced to resign as well - if he had any decency, he would resign!

As for guidelines - what are they I wonder! He and others probably think they are meant to be broken!

I agree with you there, AB. They jail the ordinary person for less, when they claim benefits wrongly - so why not those in the government - no matter the party they belong to.

He Inland Revenue tax regulations state that the final 36 months of ownership always qualify for relief from CGT "as long as the dwelling house has been your only or main residence for some point". Clearly it wasn't - he treated it as a second home for parliamentary expenses - so he's been telling whoppers to the Inland Revenue. He should be subject to the same consequences as anyone else who lies on their tax return.
