Obama

When he was elected 18 months ago I thought he was doing a grand job and the red-neck objectors were just a bit of racial intolerance.

Disregarding the racialism . . they were correct . . he's an absolute idiot . . . who the hell does he think he is ? . . . BP is a British company with millions of shareholders most of whom are retired and rely on BP share dividends to supplement their retirement pensions . . . Barak the dictator insisted BP pay no dividends this year to all those shareholders and because BP has trillions of dollars tied up in oil exploration throughout America including Alaska they complied with the despot.

This was after BP paid an interim 20 billion into a disaster fund to help the victims in the Gulf area . . . until 5 years ago I held thousands of BP shares but I sold them all at a good price and made a handsome profit.

I know hundreds of retired co-workers I used to work with who still own thousands of shares . . . no doubt they'll be burning the stars and stripes now . . . this clown has done more damage to the strong relationship that our 2 countries have had than any president has ever done for over 150 years.

It seems he's the only person in the USA with any intelligence (he thinks) he just sacked the top commander in Afghanistan because General Christal had the effrontery to criticise him to the press . . . this sacking is to the dismay of all the other commanders in that war BTW . . . yep, it seems Obama knows it all and is all wise . . . . someone kick his ass and wake him up please before any more damage is done.

Re: Obama

He has to think about voters so makes these statements about screwing BP

I sit daily and wonder if terrorists are getting the message, stuff suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices-hit the oil supplies.

I do wonder when some conspiracy theorists start to tell us that explosion was just a Muslim/Commie(are there still commies?) plot

That said-someone should compensate genuine folks who are seeing their way of life destroyed by an oil slick

Re: Obama

At the end of the day the pipeline was BP's responsibility - and they have to pay for the damage they've done. Wouldn't we want the same if it happened here?

Re: Obama

I voted for the fool because he preached change. We've had change all right. We're now 6-8 Trillion dollars in debt and owe most of it to China. We've sold our soul to China in the past two decades where it's to a point where the U.S. doesn't mamufacture anything anymore and simply buys Chinese junk. The U.S. is a super power in rapid decline. We really don't have healthy choices at election times with this stinking two party system.

Re: Obama

IMO America is as much to blame for granting the licence to drill at that depth therefore congress should be meeting a percentage of the clean-up costs . . . BP made some dreadful errors but having said that the well was being drilled by a sub-contractor . . BP being the controller of the operation is responsible for that operation however.

The rhetoric from Obama and congress in suggesting BP were dragging their feet in the initial efforts to stem the flow was an insult to the hard working teams trying to resolve the situation . . . all involved knew the consequences of a prolonged leak plus the fact that BP were losing billions in production . . even American oil drilling experts were at a loss as to how to resolve the situation.

All BP experts involved were in unknown territory in the event of that blowout but according to reports safety procedures were not complied with, the technology just wasn't available to control a leak at that depth, however, they're all on a learning curve like the rest of us at times in certain situations.

Putting the shoe on the other foot so to speak . . . if an American oil company had the same misfortune with a blow-out in our waters can you imagine what the outcry would be in America if our prime minister demanded that the oil company involved withheld dividends in the USA to shareholders of that company . . . Obama would have a hissy fit.
