A home made air conditioner that works.

I posted this in the "This Heat" thread. I have doubled up and put it in this section as I guess this is the right place for it. I have a suggestion for you here that may help you cope with the heat. It is a step by step guide on how to make an air conditioner from on ordinary fan. I have made one myself for my back shed. It is easy, doesn't take long and costs a lot less than a proper air conditioner. And that's including the fan. You can get the parts easily. It's not exactly a Fujitsu but it does the job and makes a difference. Give it a go.

Just been to the 'heat' thread and tried the linky there - guess what - that one works! How strange. Looks good anyway. Thank you.

Re: A home made air conditioner that works.

I have never tried it, but they say if you stand a bowl of ice cubes in front of the fan, that works too.
I should think you'd need a plentiful supply of ice though, with the heat we've had this week.

Has anyone ever tried that?

(Keezoy, I couldn't work that first link either. It just says 'Page not Found.')

Re: A home made air conditioner that works.

There is not a big need for air conditioning in this part of the world.
