How to get the best colours on your LCD monitor

If you have an LCD Monitor, chances are the colour settings are still on the factory settings - which are usually configured to an excessive 'blue' tone (because of the lighting in retail stores where monitors are on 'display').

In your monitors menu go to 'colour tone' and switch the setting to 'warm', the center of this image should look beige/cream, not grey or with a tinge of lilac:

Try it and see if it has any effect and let me know how you get on!

If you're a photographer you can see the original post on YoP: Quick calibration for LCD monitors (note that proper calibration is the best way to get accurate colours - this is a good quick fix in most cases tho).

It's usually via a set of buttons on the monitor, perhaps on the bottom or side.

There will usually be a few buttons, one to activate the menu, another to move 'up', another to move 'down', and another to 'select'.

The menu button may also act as a 'back' button.

If you don't do anything once the menu is activated it will usually count to 30 seconds and disappear too

Mine too. A bit like the lighter-coloured waterproof ones.

Windows 7 has a feature that helps in adjusting the monitor's brightness and contrast. It also has options in the Windows software for setting gamma and greyscale.

I used the set-up procedure and it did make the display better than before.
