A day in the Country

I sat on a damp fence one day
Taking a rest on one of the styles
I got a bit itchy I have to say
Now my bum is infected with piles.

THIS LIFE

Life can be so unfair
Sad but still true

Some haven’t a care
Is that true of you?

Who can fathom why
In this world of ours

Some before their time die
Like grass and flowers

What is the purpose of
this temporal form

Destined to die,
our loved ones to mourn

Life flashes by slowly
then faster and then

Comes quickly
your three score and ten

But what does it matter
how long you live

If you embrace life
and to others then give

Fair shares of you talents
and precious time too

What you sow will be
generously returned to you.

The world it seems is disaster bidden
Love for now is deeply hidden
What is wrong with this Earthly race
Hate and death in every place

Why do nations disengage
Causing chaos and outrage
When will it ever come to an end
We’ll learn too late, too late , my friend

they all have lost the plot
Xmas spirit they have not
can we just stop for one wee time
and glorify the Christ divine?

the message gave was 'peace on earth'
goodwill to all and let us share
our joy our worldly things and more
the pen is mightier than the sword?

UNKIND WORDS

When all that can be said & done
Each man’s an island, every one
And every one deserves to be heard
Even with unwelcome words

If I exercise my right to disagree
Why question my integrity
I will ever speak my mind
Without the need to be unkind

Life’s tough enough without
Sorry episodes about
Words that have been misunderstood
Knee jerk responses which never should

Have seen the light of day
