Home made dog biscuits

Sweet potatoes
ground cardamon
gluten free flour
butter

Mixed and rolled or shaped anyway you want.

Dipped in flour and egg and rolled in gluten free porridge oats.

Couple of hours low oven temp.

My two love them and they help with excess wind it seems too.

It sounds very interesting but you don’t add any measurements so how is one to know the amounts of each ingredient needed?

Re: Home made dog biscuits

It's a bit chuck it in and see, I use two sweet potatoes and add everything else so I get a rollable dough. I don't measure they come out a bit different each time. Oddly the dogs don't mind one bit. Two potatoes makes three trays of biscuits using my smallest biscuit cutter which is a little under an inch and a half wide.

Ok I’m out today to pick up some yams and will give it a go
Thanks Julie. I like making homemade biscuits for my girls but I haven’t done it in a while and they are so deserving.

Re: Home made dog biscuits

I make mine because I have one gluten free and the commercial ones are so expensive and my littlest needs a tiny biscuit which are quite hard to find unless I give her cat biscuits which the vet tells me aren't good for her. It's amazing the amount of sugar in some biscuits too.

Re: Home made dog biscuits

The gluten free biscuits are really expensive and I don’t like all the added sugar either. Having an older Yorkie with missing teeth I’m often breaking up food for her so this might be ideal. Plus I really like the idea of using sweet potatoes for them. I’ve even got small little dog bone shaped cookie cutters in various sizes. If they turn out I’ll add a pic.

When baked you could cut them in half and decorate them - like this:-

Haha. That’s actually cute but no

Hey Julie. Do I cook the spuds first and let it cool before using?
Also it says bake a couple of hours on low?

How low are you suggesting cause a couple of hours I’d think these would be burned to a crisp.

If these are cookie cutter biscuits, how are they rolled in oats?
Doesn’t that interfere with them laying flat on the cookie sheet?
