The Ideology Of Corbynism

Interesting article here:

The Ideology of Corbynism

https://quillette.com/2018/12/03/the...-of-corbynism/

"Corbyn’s foreign policy views are flatly inconsistent with any claim to a universalist moral ethos. He vehemently denounces Saudi Arabia’s many appalling human rights abuses but has happily accepted money from the propaganda arm of the Iranian regime. His ostensible opposition to violence and racism and oppression, meanwhile, does not extend to genocidal terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, the former of which he has implausibly described as “dedicated to the good of the Palestinian people and bringing about long term peace and social justice and political justice in the region.” Nor does it extend to individuals such as Raed Salah, a blood libeller who blamed Jews for 9/11, but who Corbyn nevertheless described as a “honoured citizen” and who he invited to take tea with him on the parliamentary terrace."

Re: The Ideology Of Corbynism

It's extremely difficult to have any sort of moral foreign policy I'd suggest as no one is innocent and many have committed terrible acts.

If I were able to I'd say we shouldn't be dealing arms with anyone as we can't control who they use them on. But if he were PM he would have to make decisions that didn't harm our companies.

I think he is a principled man but has made some mistakes in who he sides with on occasion. I think he believes people when they say they want a peaceful end to things but doesn't realise some people are just telling him what they think he wants to hear.

I would like to think people would understand he is actually a man of peace but I am not seeing that sadly.

Hardly likely with his very rich and reprehensible history Julie. You appear highly conditioned on this particular issue.

Here's an article highlighting much of Corbyn's history.

http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&hl=en&ct=clnk

Some snippets from that article:

"Since his election to Parliament in 1983, Corbyn has sided with practically every enemy of the British state, from the fascist Argentinian junta during the Falklands War to the Irish Republican Army to Vladimir Putin’s Russia"

"He has frequently shared platforms with and heaped praise upon violent extremist hate preachers. A sizeable portion of Corbyn’s supporters have engaged in reprehensible behavior toward his critics in a fashion similar to Trump’s more fanatical backers. And Corbyn’s ascension has corresponded with an appalling increase in anti-Semitism within the ranks of the Labour Party. "

"During the worst years of Northern Ireland’s “Troubles,” Corbyn was a vocal champion of the Irish Republican Army"

"For the four years prior to his becoming Labour leader, Corbyn was chair of the Stop the War Coalition, essentially a communist front organization "

"Not only did Corbyn accept up to 20,000 pounds (about $25,600) for appearances on the Iranian state-sponsored propaganda network Press TV, he once praised the Iranian regime’s “inclusivity and tolerance.” "

"When Venezuelan strongman Chávez died in 2013, Corbyn declared that the strongman was an “inspiration to all of us fighting back against neoliberalism and austerity in Europe "

"Corbyn similarly described Fidel Castro as a “champion of social justice.” "

"Corbyn sponsored a parliamentary motion referring to “a ‘genocide’ that never really existed in Kosovo"

"Corbyn has appeared multiple times on the Kremlin propaganda network RT (formerly Russia Today) and recommends it as “more objective” than mainstream broadcast outlets such as the BBC"

"Corbyn has vocally opposed the Western military alliance for his entire political career, calling it “a danger to world peace.” "

"Corbyn penned an article for the Morning Star, a communist newspaper, titled, “NATO Belligerence Threatens Us All.” "

"Though he publicly (and reluctantly) supported Labour’s manifesto pledge to renew Britain’s Trident nuclear deterrent, Corbyn allegedly promised in private to scrap it “as soon as I can” once he becomes prime minister"

"So extreme is Corbyn that the former head of Britain’s spy service recently declared him “unfit” to lead the country and that he “would not be cleared” to work for any of Britain’s intelligence agencies"

"His chief media adviser, former Guardian editor Seumas Milne, is an apologist for Joseph Stalin and the East German communist dictatorship"

Sorry but Corbyn is wholly unfit to run this country.

Hi

The economic policies favoured by Corbyn have been a disaster whenever they have been tried.

They will not affect him and his backers as they are rich kids.

Hi

Yes we are, we do not have the biggest oil reserves in the World.

The former USSR was run on Corbyn's economic principles and the poverty was appalling.

There are always other factors at play in each country IMO USSR again was very different to us. If the same policy was used in three different countries you'd get three different scenarios.
