Re: Do you speak the lingo?
We used to go to France quite a lot for holidays and so I had to dig deep into my memory and remember some of the French I learnt at school. We got by quite well, and then decided to buy a house there. I really had to get the French up to a halfway decent standard as we had to write cheques (quite different to the way we write them) pay bills, council taxes etc. Sometimes we went to see people who could really not speak any English and then again it was difficult making conversation that sounded interesting and I could speak. Now we no longer have a house or go to France, French has once again slipped back into my memory. I also learnt German when at school but find that almost impossible to remember.Re: Do you speak the lingo?
