Re: Trapped nerve.

Hi Mups.

No of course I don't condemn them all. I just can't be bothered with them.

The painkillers help & I've found some gentle exercises to do. The deep tissue massage seems like a good idea. If it doesn't get better in a week or so I'll ask the doctor to refer me somewhere - physio maybe?

I really posted this to see if anybody else had had this problem but it seems not.

Re: Trapped nerve.

I don't know these people, Carol, but there's loads of info here about the massage and what conditions it can help if you do decide to give it a go.
Spoil yourself.

Although I didn't enjoy the experience, my frozen shoulder was pretty much fixed by a steroid injection. I didn't react well to it but my shoulder stopped hurting.

Re: Trapped nerve.

I am prone to trapped nerves and such but I've had bad experiences with massage. Chiropracters are ok for bits and pieces but I'd never trust them with my neck. It's a complex area to treat. See your dentist first. Most people don't realise that the neck and back can hurt from a bad bite. May be worth trying a nightguard to see if it eases the symptoms. Posture is a balance which includes the teeth. As you age it can all go out of balance.

Re: Trapped nerve.

Carol hi

I had a trapped nerve in my back...I had shooting pains and bouts of pins and needles it was very painful...I went privately to a chiropractor but I'll be honest it just made it worse...in desperation I went back to the docs and this time I saw a young female doctor who prescribed me Amytriptylene to be taken at night....

I associated Amytriptylene with depression and I told her I wasn't depressed but she insisted that small doses can be beneficial for trapped nerves and muscles so I took her advice....four days later I kid you not the pain was totally gone...truly they worked like a miracle for me. I googled Amytriptylene and sure enough they are recommended for that condition I'm just grateful the young doc knew that too.

Might be worth suggesting it to your doc...it worked for me.

Good luck.

Carol I think that Summers suggestion may help! I found this....

Amitriptyline rebalances the chemicals in the central nervous system, which can relieve pain, relax the muscles and improve sleep.

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is widely used to treat chronic neuropathic pain (pain due to nerve damage). It is recommended as a first line treatment in many guidelines.

Re: Trapped nerve.

Thank you so much. I will certainly ask my doctor about Amitriptyline if I need to go back to her.
At the moment I'm on 300mg of Gabapentin. The doctor told me they are especially for nerve pain and I have to admit they are good.

Yes I have Carol as have lots of other people I’m sure but maybe not in here . By the time you get an appointment it will probably have got better .
I’m a great believer in applying a hot water bottle which relaxes the tensed up muscles .
