Micheal Gove has formaly informed the eu that the time for
asking for an extension is now past!
About time imo?
Now we can prepare properly for a no deal?

This week, the paymaster general, Penny Mordaunt, who is Gove’s de facto deputy on Brexit implementation, said they would be telling the EU at the joint committee that the UK had no intention of availing of its legal right to a one-off request for*an extension to the transition period, which ends in December.

The EU has been following events in the UK, so they knew that not asking for an extension was enshrined in UK law in januari this year.
To his surprise, barnier received a letter from british mp's asking for such an extension. His reply was that the EU had to be open for an extension since that is part of the withdrawal agreement, but that a request had to be made by UK government, not by a random set of mp's.

Now finally gove will be giving clarity? About time!

The UK and EU have agreed to an “intensified timetable” for the trade talks, which will involve a mix of formal negotiating rounds and smaller group meetings, both in London and Brussels.

There will be negotiations each week for five weeks, beginning on 29 June – an accelerated timetable after meetings in the last round of negotiations took place every two to three weeks. The UK has said it will walk away from the talks if there is no sign of progress in July.

Knowing our so called government in general, Michael Gove in particular, that probably means an extension is imminent!

Two weeks to go before the deadline to request an extension. Let's hope boris keeps to the law and lets that term pass.

Re: Uk tells eu no extension!!

Hi

All Civil Service Departments and Enforcement Agencies have been told that we are going on the 31st December.

There is also a complete ban on talking to the Media about what this means.

Everything must go through the Press Officers.

When Boris was elected PM 11 Months ago he found out the awful truth about how unprepared we were for Brexit.

He has not addressed this, he is not a great one for detail.

It is the detail which matters.

Yes, he has taken us out, unlike May, that is in his favour.

He has however blinked.

His first promise was to take us out last year, did not happen.

His second mistake was to back down on no Border Controls between the UK and NI.

One of our Red Lines.

These will now happen.

Third mistake, taking back Control on !st January next year.

That is not going to happen.

We have no systems in place in Ports and Airports to either collect Tariffs or control EU Immigration on the !st January.

The EU have.

Our negotiating position has been seriously compromised.

The EU have all these in place, ready and waiting.

We are using Coranavirus as an excuse.

Nobody else in the World is and they have strengthened their Controls, not reduced them.

Since when did we collect tarrifs at airports and borders ? There have always been tarrifs on goods from outside the EU but they are never paid at borders or airports, what on earth are you on about ?

As for borders, there are already border checks in Ireland and we are not in Schengen so your not making any sense with that comment

Re: Uk tells eu no extension!!

Hi

We are leaving Solasch.

A Democratic Decision.

Accept it and also accept that people like me also voted Leave.

I did so with the upmost reluctance, but there we go.

Merkel and Macron could have backed down and kept us in.

They did not and it was their decision not ours.

They made a serious miscalculation.

The arrogance of Merkel and Macron is astounding.

That is the reason we are leaving.

You and the others need to put them in their place

The EU can threaten us with Financial Disaster

You seriously misunderstand us.

We went to war with Germany 70 years ago.

It was a matter of Principle.

We have not changed.

We will simply not be dictated to by the EU or anyone else.

We will not back down, we are out, accept it.

I am intelligent, articulate and know the risks.

I am also British, which means I will not be threatened by anyone.

The EU can swan off, we are out at the end of this year.

I'll believe it when I see it, Swimmy, given our pathetic lily livered government.
