Re: Animal Testing

It should be banned.
If a more advanced species were in the pecking order above humans I'm sure we'd be more than a little peeved if we were incarcerated and used for laboratory experiments.

Great idea.
Let's then spread every deadly disease known to man when said criminals escape.

There again cosmetic testing would be fun, as long as they were returned to prison at the end of each day, make-up intact.

Re: Animal Testing

I think testing medications on animals is still necessary and must be continued until another fool proof method is found.

I don't approve of other products being tested on animals, which aren't essential to human well being.

Re: Animal Testing

I am alive to day and thousands like me because of drugs tested on animals.

This country banned cosmetics testing on animals in 1998.

Re: Animal Testing

Until a better method of testing is found I don't think there is an alternative. Testing on criminals is a definite no, no, as far as I'm concerned.

Quite... and animals are only used when there is no alternative method.

What? Not even a few itsy-bitsy little tests?

Re: Animal Testing

No to animal testing.
Yes to testing on murderers and rapists. They forfeited any human rights they had the moment they committed their heinous crimes. Make them suffer as their victims suffered.

Re: Animal Testing

I agree with most that animal testing for purely medical reasons is a necessary evil.
Without it, many/most of today's wonder-drugs would be impossible - impacting on millions of humans.
But certainly not for crap like cosmetics !

As for testing on prisoners ... even the worst of the worst ... I tend to think it's a slippery slope.
Whether folk here like it or not, prisoners do still have some rights in a civilized society.

Also worth pondering that if our legal system gets it right 90% of the time (which I doubt), there are still thousands of totally innocent people locked up.
Witnesses and cops do sometimes lie. Mis-identification does occur. Some legal representation is far from ideal.

The Great God Wikki tells me there are 85,000 in UK prisons.
Surprising to me, they reckon 40% of males are over 60 !?
Want to start at that end ?
