Have you heard a Cuckoo yet this year

I heard a cuckoo for the first time this year when watering the garden last night, such a lovely evocative sound

Hearing one is becoming a much rarer occurrence these days as the numbers have fallen dramatically.

I love the sound of a cuckoo but I have not heard one yet at this house. I heard a screech owl a few weeks back.

I hear one every day at 2 o'clock!

I have a clock with British bird song on it, a different bird every hour.
I also have an American one but it was getting a bit noisy with two going together and confusing local birdwatchers, so I took the batteries out!

I was only thinking about this at the weekend, and no, unfortuantely I haven't heard one this year yet.
Pity, I do love to hear them.

Re: Have you heard a Cuckoo yet this year

I don't think Ive ever heard one around here, I live on open farmland so perhaps thats why?

The swifts arrived a couple of weeks ago and have set up residence under the garage guttering.

And the hawks have arrived in the tree in the middle of the field behind us

No cuckoo but lots of Kookaburras; even had one come and sit next to me though this is not the laughing variety.

I heard one this morning!

There's a Woodpecker as well down by the canal somewhere, but haven't heard it for a while.
