No need for excuses as the whole world could see he was in obvious trouble, so it said more about the music industry than him that he was allowed to try and perform even with those flashes of his former self. Money before compassion

Re: Elvis.

I love the early stuff. Blue Suede Shoes and Jailhouse Rock paved the way for so many artists. Shame about his decline into Engelbery Humperdinck territory with those mawkish ballads in the 70's.
Couldn't write a song though and his movies were terrible.

Re: Elvis.

Cannot believe it is 41 years ago , remember hearing the news on the radio as clear as if it was yesterday.
He was just so drop dead gorgeous when he was young, believe he had Cherokee blood in him which I suppose accounts for those cheek bones. Even as the end he was still the King in my book.
Been to Graceland twice now and each time it was special I thought.

Re: Elvis.

Morning APRICOT...I received a phone call from my niece, the day that Elvis passed away...and, that's how I found out that he had died...she was also an Elvis fan.

I was a lucky teen 1n 1957...because my parents and my friend's parent's bought us tickets to see Elvis in concert on April 2nd...for our 16th birthdays...@ Maple Leaf Gardens.

He only ever performed here in Canada, four times...two shows in Toronto, one show in Ottawa, the next day and finally one show @ Empire Stadium in Vancouver BC...August 31st, 1957...

I'm always sad on this day...but I shall play some LP's and sing along...because Elvis always put a smile on my face...
