comfort women

It is good that Japsn has offered to pay compensation but it is too late for most of these poor women.
I hope it is put to good use.

Too late and somehow I doubt they mean the words.

Re: comfort women

Somehow I doubt that financial compensation can really compensate. But at least it is some recognition of the wrongdoing.

Re: comfort women

There were very many shameful and shocking things I believe during world war 2, and still many shocking and shameful things going on during today's wars in various countries. At least Japan is admitting it's wrongs, whether you believe it or not, personally there is much I don't believe from politicians and orators of any country, race or religion you care to name.

Re: comfort women

Why now - I wonder, just sheer pressure probably, makes me sick to think on it

Re: comfort women

This should have been taken care of years ago...I can't imagine the pain and suffering each woman endured all these years and the many women, children world wide going thru this right now that we don't even know about. Sick sick world.

Re: comfort women

The term 'comfort women' is an insult to these women. Many of them were 'imported' and were in effect 'sex slaves'. Some documents referring to them as 'war supplies'.

No amount of money will recompense them for what they suffered, and one can only hope that at least some of the compensation money reaches them. Not that it will ever be enough to wipe it from their memories.

Re: comfort women

A bureaucratic move by the Japanese, so the shouting will stop. They are not sorry at all, and as most of the women (victims) are dead, too late...
