Your cake looks scrumptious, Artie.
Thank You, Tiffany.
I sprinkled Demerara sugar on the top before l baked it and it’s given it a lovely crunchy texture.

They would probably be fine but I feel it's not worth going to all the trouble of making something to have it spoilt by an ingredient.
Thank You, Meg.
Seeing as you are the head baker here, l will take your words as a compliment!

Thank You, Bratti.
I will send you a piece by carrier pigeon. Just keep looking in the sky for a grey and white bird with a cake box strapped to it!

Well l ummed and ahhed, even let the dried dates soak in hot water.... but l decided not to use them and made a cherry and walnut cake instead.

I thought l would show you it as it came out beautifully and tastes gorgeous, especially with a nice cup of tea!

Anyway, would you have used the two year old dried dates?
No - I don't think I would. I would eat a slice of the cherry cake though - it looks delicious!

I dont take much notice of use by dates but two years is a bit much so no I wouldn't have used them. The cake you ended up with looks lovely Art.

I’d have eaten a two year old cake if it looked like that art

Re: Would You Use Two Years Out Of Date Dried Dates?

Thank You, ST and summer.
Primus, the 2 year old cake has all gone now. I gave the rest to my friend who came to visit me today.

I am going to make another this week as it truly was lovely. I think my hens fresh eggs that l used made the difference.
