Re: Cyprus Holiday

Winding down now here in Cyprus - No PC available before so couldn't update!
Average 38 degrees here but this time very humid and we had the tail end of a duststorm last week that meant everything covered and asthma sufferers wheezing, me included.

Off to Pafos in an hour so better get going.
Lots to say but never time or access when I want. Take care everyone. stevmk2

Re: Cyprus Holiday

Back home last night straight into a heavy downpour and the M1 at Luton moving at about 20 mph - what a welcome!

Although we were a little disappointed in some ways that there were not many bars local to the hotel we stayed at, the location was fine for us - right on the beach!

What bars here were were mainly bar / restaurants: a lot different to Protarus!

The hotel itself - the Atlantica Miramare Beach Hotel - was probably one of the best, if not THE best we have stayed at on holiday.

We always look at reviews and there were some negative ones but I found them a bit over the top from the experience we had there.

What impressed us the most was the staff who were so friendly, efficient, speedy and very helpful, especially in the restaurants where they seemed to glide around almost unseen removing plates, resetting tables and dealing with all the guests so smoothly it was a pleasure to be there.

What did surprise me was the high humidity as previously, based at Protarus in 2013 it wasn't really a problem and we went all over the Eastern side right up to Kyrenia

Hot Yes, but a bit hard to cope with the humidity, at least for me - we saw locals with masks when the dust storm covered us for 36 hours so it's not a new thing it seems.

I'm back at work on Monday but with just 354 days 'til I'm 65!

At the hotel they left a cake and champagne for my 64th birthday and when we left yesterday we got sandwiches and cakes for the journey home! stevmk2

Re: Cyprus Holiday

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

After 13 days in Cyprus it is a culture shock coming back here - what on earth's wrong with everyone?

I've been cut up five times just toodling around to ASDA and LIDL today and I do drive with consideration for others.

In ASDA someone just pushed past us in the queue at the checkout with no apology too.

Even the Russians who spoke no English in Cyprus were better than this! stevmk2
