An advert we shouldn't ignore

I've seen this a few times on TV.

I ignored lumps on my breast for months, and because of it I am in a much worse situation that I may have been if I had went to the GP straight away.

Jim had a lump on his testicle, fortunately it was non-cancerous but he only went to a doctor because I literally walked him into the surgery!! He wouldn't have gone otherwise.

Please, if you notice anything - lumps, dimples, sore spots, pains - ANYTHING at all. GET IT CHECKED.

Sound advice Susan. It’s not easy to get fellas to have anything on their private parts checked out, including me, luckily I haven’t any need to but if I had I would be very reluctant to tell anyone, never mind go to the doctor, I do know however if herself knew about it she would drag me kicking and screaming to the surgery.

Re: An advert we shouldn't ignore

I found a lump..
I was in the shower and my shock was huge I felt it again then I called OH and asked him to look...Poor guy he thought Christmas and birthday had come at once!

Then he looked and said 'ýouve got a lump' I felt sick to my stomach.
I got dressed and phoned the GP and the assistent said sorry cant see you until next week..
I said Ive found a lump in my breast..
She moaned but gave me an appointment.
When I went in the GP asked how long Id had it, how big it was and if it was free moving or solid, did it hurt, had I noticed leakage etc etc..

In the end I pulled up my shirt, grabbed his hand and said 'for gods sake man feel it'...
He did and then said he thought it was just a large lymph node..

The man made me feel dirty by forcing him to examine me.
Not all GP's are good at this sort of thing so although its important for women to check and report lumps its also important that GP's take them seriously.

Mine did turn out to be harmless but what if I had gone away ashamed from his reaction and not dared to ask again? What if it had been something bad?

Thing is no one ever died from embarrasment but loads die of cancer every year. Id rather be embarrassed than dead.
