But you spell it 'Rhein'!

I didn't know about that problem, though. You're almost as bad as we are!

e scooters should just carry registration plates as should pushbikes. Any vehicle that goes on the road should be identifiable, particularly if the same vehicle mounts the pavement. I'm sick of all the arguments that it will put people off using such modes of transport. Let them walk if they do not want to have a reg plate.
Annie, we HAVE to have the authorities use drones because our big towns and cities are populated by so much criminal filth.

And ID databases. Even if the face is covered so software couldn't be used, the perp might touch or drop something from which a DNA swab could ID them.

Certainly not and since my information is for English readers I'll use English throughout which includes using an English version for a German geographical term if there is one. Rhine is not the only example. I'd also use Nuremberg for you.

I agree Dachs. I also use English spelling when I write so I'd write Gothenburg not Göteborg.

It would be interesting to see the response - or lack of it if we non native English speakers wrote in our own language.

Re: e-Scooters

They're very popular here too. My grandsons each have one, but with strict instructions on usage. They're very aware of the potential risks to others, but that possibly comes from having a disabled gran and great gran.

The big problem here are the rental e-scooters in towns and cities. Many people use them without taking any consideration for traffic rules or other people. They're left anywhere and create hazards especially for people with sight loss, I've lost count of the times mum has almost gone a... over t.. because of e-scooters just left lying around on the pavement. And as elsewhere they're dumped in rivers and lakes creating potential environmental hazards.

Thanks Muddy. Don't know about Dachs, but in my case probably due to me having been a senior high school languages teacher.
