Drinking fluids.

We are told that one should drink about 2 litres (4 pints) of fluid a day.
Now what is ment by fluid?
Does that mean just plain water or can that be a mix of water, tea, fruit juice, Milk, etc?
I need to know.

Liquid -tea,milk,water,juices -but not necessarily alcohol. Just watch the calories as it is easy to forget when you are consuming liquid.

Our bodies need water Emjay but you can take that water in numerous ways like in tea, diluted drinks etc. Doesn't need to be straight water. Your body will extract what it needs from what you drink.

Re: Drinking fluids.

Four pints? I don't think I drink that much in a week Emjay.
Mind you.....I have half a pint of milk on my porridge, three or four cups of tea through the day, and a large glass of flavoured tea first thing in the morning (loosens the bowels) before going for a run....And that's it....

Re: Drinking fluids.

I'm glad it includes tea and coffee because I would struggle to drink 2lts of water every day unless it was summer and I was working hard.

Foxy, is it wise to loosen the bowels before going for a run? I am sure they don't have many public toilets on your runs!

Re: Drinking fluids.

I drink lots of tea but also lots of water.

Tea and coffee both make me thirsty and coffee gives me indigestion so I avoid that.

I drink around 12 mugs of tea a day and drink at least a litre of water as well. Only 2 teas are caffeinated though, the others are decaff.

Edited to add....I also pee a lot
