Dressing up.

Apart from weddings it's been ages since I've seen anyone dressed up. In restaurants/theatres/etc the dress code seems to be mostly casual..

The shops are full of lovely dresses and stylish clothes. I often wonder who wears them and where do they wear them too.
Years ago I used to get dressed up every Saturday night when we used to go out with friends to the local pubs & clubs where there was music & dancing. That dropped off two decades ago!!

I don't often go anywhere to get dressed up for nowadays - but when I do I enjoy it. It's especially nice on holiday - I get dressed up for dinner every night.

Do you enjoy getting dressed up or do you prefer casual at all time?

Re: Dressing up.

Smart casual is my favourite style of dressing. I can't remember how long it is since I wore a tie, I think I'd struggle to remember how to do up a tie now.

I like comfortable but I still like to look like I tried, you don't have to dress down to wear something comfy I find. I dress how I feel so good day all colourful bad day greys and blacks. Often I am smarter dressed than the office staff which makes some of them laugh because there they are in something more suited to jogging and their cleaner is all smart and dressed up.

I used to love it when Steven had a job where he had to wear a white shirt and tie every day, very smart much nicer than all the uniformed jobs he has had. Proper shoes he had to shine too lovely.

Re: Dressing up.

I think we all copped on to ourselves and went for the casual comfortable look Carol, I hardly ever wear a suit and tie anymore, I think the last time I did was at my grandsons christening last year and I felt as stiff as a poker in it. Best to wear what makes you relaxed and not terrified that you’ll spill something on yourself or someone tips over a glass in the pub, pulling up your trouser legs every time you want to sit down is a bore too, I think it's comfort thats coming first now and here's to comfort.

I don't think I own anything I wouldn't worry about spilling stuff on, that's what aprons, tabards and at meal times a napkin is for.

Re: Dressing up.

A napkin is not much use at a wedding or christening and someone accidentally topples a full glass of red wine over it and it lands on your lap Julie, happened to me at my daughters wedding, I had a lightish blue suit on and it was destroyed with the stains, had to taxi home and change.
