At What Point Do You Suddenly Become An Old Person?

It really puzzles me, as l don’t feel any different at all.
Yet if you put my age down on a piece of paper, l would be classed as old!

Does becoming an old person, happen overnight?

Is there a special age you reach that puts you into that specific category?

Or, does it creep up and pounce on you, without any warning?

Does anyone know?

The memory starts to go, the muscles ache after digging the garden, old ladies start to offer you their seats on the train, your children begin to question whatever mission you go out on, or they come round and check out the sell by dates on everything in your cupboards.

It starts at, around, 65.

It gets annoying around 65 + 1 day.

Oh! and they always say "What have you bought that for....?" when you come home.

I am 91 but I don,t feel old. I can still walk a fair distance, I can still drive, I live on my own as I lost my dear wife eleven years ago and still do my own housework, cooking, shopping, washing and ironing etc; so What is old?
My body may be old but my brain is still very active so I do not class myself as old, and by the way I still have a twinkle in my eye when a good looker is around

In my case, when I realised I'd become garrulous rather than sociable .....

Tedc and Meg, Don’t the same things you describe happen to younger people too? Yet, they aren’t described as old.

Interesting question,it used to be defined imo when a person received their old age pension, that now as become what is termed as pensionable age.I don't think myself has old at 62,just that I've got older and things take longer to do and recover from.
