Boris Johnson And Matt Hancock Are Being Sued For Appointing Dido Harding

https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/ent...mT6jwf7ntZYowX

The Good Law Project and Runnymede Trust have launched legal proceedings against the government’s repeated appointment of individuals who are connected with senior members of the Conservative Party – without advertising these roles. The organisations argue that Westminister appears to have breached its public sector equality duty under the Equality Act 2010 by filling senior public sector roles with their mates. Recruitment without open competition may be indirect discrimination on grounds of, in particular, race and disability, contrary to the landmark equality legislation. A notice of intended action was handed to Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock on Thursday.

It comes after Baroness Dido Harding – whose husband is a Conservative MP close to the PM – was made interim head of the National Institute for Health Protection. Harding (ex Sainsbury, TalkTalk, currently Jockey Club) is also a firm friend of former PM David Cameron. That followed her appointment to head of the so-called NHS Test and Trace service just three months before. Mike Coupe, Gareth Williams, Ben Stimson and Paul de Laat have also been given senior positions at NHS Test and Trace as director of testing, chief people officer, chief customer officer and chief data officer respectively. Coupe, the former CEO of Sainsbury’s and a one-time colleague and associate of Harding, has no known experience as a public administrator or in the health sector.

There are no job specifications or application processes in the public domain, say the Good Law Project and Runnymede Trust – yet these jobs are all key responsibilities in the national fight against the Covid-19 outbreak. It is also unclear who identified the candidates as being suitable for the job and what the qualification criteria were.

There appears to be a considerable amount of public support for this legal action against the government. A crowd fundraising effort towards litigation fees titled It’s Time For An End To Cronyism has achieved its £30,000 goal in just 24 hours.
Sadly, BJ has, apparently, bottomless coffers at the moment so, no doubt, will appoint a very expensive legal team to defend his postion .....

So what! Most appointees should be consigned to history as most usually end up being incompetent, just as most ministers do.

So, it's about time that some were called to account, especially the grossly "Incompetent" Harding, who my mother would have called "neither use nor ornament" .....

Legal papers claim the PM is responsible for two breaches of the Equality Act 2010. He has until November 11 to respond or face action in the courts.

A spokesman for No10 said they would not comment on any “pending or ongoing litigation”.

Perhaps they should also sue every MP that appoints a family member or friend to their office staff too.... cronyism is rife right through Westminster and the public services and not just the higher echelons, and it's rife in every party too, not just conservative, but it is wrong whichever side you are on, so sue one you really have to sue them all...

You stand more chance of being struck by lightning.
Twice.

IIRC wasn't the appointment of Dido Harding an "Interim" one?
There's the "get-out"; where are all the candidates to take on the role in a permanent capacity?

They could always go to the Tory corruption watchdog...who happens to be Harding's husband.

Indeed he is .....

Also, in May 2020, Penrose joined the advisory board of think-tank 1828, which calls for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system and for Public Health England to be scrapped ......
