Re: Product endorsement

I became a Sales Rep travelling around an area selling hairdressing products in 1969. It was awful. Driving around places l wasn’t familiar with and worrying about trying to make a sale.
I was totally exhausted and got styes on my eyes from the driving and the stress.
If you can do that job, then l admire you but l found it too tiring, stressful and a risk to your health!

I sounds like one of those jobs you were sold on.

Many moons ago .... I attended interviews where they had no interest in me. It was total sales pitch ....

Seriously, if it's part of your job or if it's going to result in a profitable outcome then I really see absolutely no issue.

If people don't like the heat then keep out of the kitchen.
The victms of Grenfell were the result of your philosophy Todgy!!
So l find your reference to liking the heat to be in very bad taste ?
There is a very good article in the Guardian tonight l recommend

It is the responsibility of a sales person to sell a product.

If the salesperson has defined within his job description to provide advice on the suitability of the material for a given and stated application then that is a different matter.

Otherwise his responsibility is limited to processing a sale which comes down to negotiating a price and delivery schedule. Nothing more.

Very often in the case of large organisations there is a purchasing department that puts a further stage of separation between sales person and person specifying their choice of material within the users organisation.

Re: Product endorsement

BTW you could try the soft sell.

Last time I was in M&S the staff were so gormless, I ended up buying something through sympathy.
