Taking an engine apart was easy, now you dearn't touch it.
Half the art back then was listening to know if an engine was running properly. You could even put your ear onto a long screwdriver and rest the screwdriver. on the rocker cover to heard for noisy tappets.
Changing a clutch plate only took a very short time, now who knows

As a kid I nearly starved to death. Seriously ! I wanted to have a job, any job, that put me to work in a restaurant.1st job I had , at age 16, was a busboy. Whenever nobody was looking, I stuffed my face with food.
At age 74, I'm still obsessed with food.

I was a tractor driver before I grew up. My dad had a couple of grey fergies, and the biggest & best, a MF 65.
I wanted my own Ice Cream Van.
Then I wanted to be a drummer but never got beyond the cardboard boxes.

I wanted to be a steam Engine Driver.As a kid, in Withernsea, we could go down to the station and help with the turntable, and, on a lucky day, get a ride out to the water engine water filling station & back.
Beeching removed the trains, and any hope, years later.
