I have two steps at the front verandah and one step at the back door. That is my entire inventory of stairs!

Ha ha ha...

My ceilings are just over 3 metres high I don't need an archaic measurement to make things sound bigger than they really are. I could touch an 8ft ceiling, gotta be a joke, sounds like a Hobbit's burrow. How could you fit a ceiling fan?

Re: Stairs

Steps within our house? A total of four: one from porch to hall and three from en-suite to bedroom.
Yes, of course. We live in a bungalow.
Having said that, there are a further eleven down the path, so we still get a bit of exercise!

Re: Stairs

Hi

Simple maths, UK Building Regs specify a minimum ceiling height and minimum sizes for steps and risers, hence the 12.

Re: Stairs

No stairs inside. 3 at the front door and 3 at the back door.

One step down from deck to solid ground, does that count?

Re: Stairs

Our joint comprises of four very old cottages knocked into one.

There's four Slingsby pull-down loft ladders (which are virtually never used), but three steps at ground level to cater for different floor levels, one of which is more a slope more than a step.

Re: Stairs

No stairs (bungalow) but one step up to the front door, level access at the back.

The house I grew up in had 14 steps to the stairs. There was a carpet in the middle that was held in place with stair rods. Some inches of wood showed either side of the carpet.

The wood was painted and it was me and my sister's job to dust the stairs every Saturday morning ..or no pocket money.
