Supreme Court orders Trump to hand over his tax returns to New York prosecutors

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56157745

Trump has been ordered by the US Supreme Court to hand over his tax returns and other financial records to prosecutors in New York. The former US president has been refusing to release the documents for several years, despite a precedent that presidential candidates should do so.

A lower court had earlier ruled that the records were pertinent to a criminal investigation. The ruling does not necessarily mean the files will be made public. The financial documents should be provided as evidence to a grand jury to be scrutinised in secret, and might only later become public as part of an indictment. A grand jury is set up by a prosecutor to determine whether there is enough evidence to pursue a prosecution. The jury is given investigative powers and can issue subpoenas to compel people to testify.

The US Supreme Court's decision is a blow to Mr Trump, who has been in a legal battle to protect his records from a grand jury for months.
Is this the beginning of the end for Trump .....

If he has broken the law and that is proven then probably it will be.

Broken the law!?..with respect Cinderella, I think it's less of a question of has he broken the law than it is how many he has broken. It is already painfully - almost fatally clear that Not only has Trump no respect for the law, but no respect for the US constitution, the congress, his own party, the intelligence of a huge percentage of the American people, his allies or anybody else in the world except himself. He is one of the most blaring and dangerous cases of arrested development in the history of mankind let alone the US. I would like to see the bastard go to prison.

A criminal investigation is being carried out by prosecutors in the state of New York. Cyrus Vance, the Democratic district attorney of Manhattan, is the lead prosecutor in the investigation.

As part of the investigation, Mr Vance is examining the financial and tax affairs of Mr Trump and his family business, the Trump Organization.

The investigation began in 2018, when Mr Trump was still president. At first, the investigation examined the Trump Organization's role in hush-money payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to two women who said they had had affairs with Mr Trump.

Michael Cohen - Mr Trump's former personal lawyer - was jailed for his role in the scheme under federal, or national, laws in 2018.

Meanwhile, Mr Vance has been assessing whether the Trump Organization broke any state laws in New York in relation to the payoffs. Mr Vance's investigation has since widened to include other possible crimes, including insurance, tax and banking fraud.

For months he has been trying to obtain eight years' worth of Mr Trump's personal and corporate tax returns. Last July, the Supreme Court ruled that Mr Trump's records could be examined by the prosecutor's office.

The latest Supreme Court ruling has paved the way for prosecutors to begin combing through Mr Trump's financial records.

At this point, it is not clear whether prosecutors will file any criminal charges against Mr Trump, his company, or his business partners. The investigation may come to nothing.

However, if prosecutors do find evidence of wrongdoing, criminal proceedings are a possibility. In New York, some types of tax fraud can be charged as crimes known as felonies, which can carry lengthy prison sentences.
Of course, we will have a long wait before any details or results of this investigation are made public but other legal cases are lined up against Trump - we may hear from those in the nearer future .....

Bidens bank accounts and tax returns would be far more interesting. His dealings and payments from China and the Ukraine would open a few peoples eyes.

Trump submitted his tax returns etc back in 2016 and he didn't take a wage as President so I'm not sure what the point of this is, other than just more political theatre and to try to stop him running again in 2024 because the Democrats are scared rigid of him.

All this will achieve is more failure by the nutters in the White House.

If anyone's breaking the law its Biden who is locking up immigrant kids in cages again.

Another lie, another day, another broken promise and more misery ... the new manifesto for Creepy Beijing Biden.

What is it with him and kids ?

National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told Breitbart Texas that as of Monday, Border Patrol officials held more than 800 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) in custody. Despite the legal requirement to release the children to other federal agencies within 72 hours, more than 212 remained in custody longer than the legal limit.

Vital that any legal proceedings are seen to be text book, no wriggle room for lawyers to get him off the hook.

Irrefutable evidence a must.

All the democrats are doing is trying to rig future elections.

Just like last time with the impeachment farce and the impeachment hoax before that.

Manhattan prosecutors 'expand their investigation into Donald Trump to also look at Don Jr and chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg'

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ok-Don-Jr.html

Weisselberg, 73, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, has repeatedly appeared in investigations into the Trump family finances. In particular, he was heavily involved in the scheme to pay off porn star Stormy Daniels.

Don Jr has played an increasingly large role in his father's political campaigns, while dealing with the family's foreign business interests.

Forbes reported that Trump's two sons 'unloaded $118 million worth of the president's real estate since his January 2017 inauguration, striking deals everywhere from New York City and Los Angeles to Charleston, South Carolina and the Dominican Republic.'
Slowly but surely .....
