OK, The Great Ginger Beer Explosion of 2018...

I had made a ginger beer plant for my grandson and showed him how to make ginger beer. As it was not screen based his interest was limited but I bottled a batch of beer and left the bottles in the laundry where they sat for possibly a couple of years (give or take)

One evening I heard a very loud bang...









There was even a great chip out of the glass window.



Two or three bottles had exploded, probably a chain reaction set off by the first one. There was shards of glass everywhere.

I carefully put the remaining bottles in the laundry sink and even more carefully released the pressure in each with a bottle opener. Never before had my bomb disposal skills been put to such a test.

Ah! it was two years, I was able to zoom in on the label.



The explosion took place on 27th Jan 2018

BTW I had showed my grandson's father how to make a ginger beer plant and ginger beer many years before. He was similarly disinterested.

My Dad always said that alcohol was bad for me Bruce....But he didn't say why....now I know what happened to the demolished wash house....
