Re: Life Expentancy

Well my dad went at 55, my mother at 66 so I was a bit worried about 77 but I still seem to be here two years on.

I have a friend who had emphysema and her mother died of the same condition at 54 and my friend has been saying since she was 54 that she's gonna pop it soon, she's now 72 and still chugging along although in very poor health and on oxygen. She's a fighter for sure.

Well people say I take after my Mum and Mum passed away at the age of 95 years old, with all her own hair and all her teeth, so i'm hoping I will live that long.

Re: Life Expentancy

There was a thread a long time ago it was something like if you knew the exact date you were going to die would you live your life differently....it was an interesting concept. Have to admit I don't have any great ambitions left I want to fulfil well maybe one but we all have impossible dreams.

Probably best we don't know too accurately when we will die...just that it will happen one day...so live for today.

Re: Life Expentancy

76 seems to be the limit in our family, those who get past that manage 90+.

Re: Life Expentancy

My father was 69 and my mother 80 when they died, both in very poor health. After a heart attack myself some 11 years ago I am rather thankful to wake up every day – the day I don't is the day I cease to even think about any of that!

Re: Life Expentancy

I'm very like my Mum and she died at 64, I'm currently 62 so getting a bit nervous now.

There doesn't seem to be much longevity in my family, I have no reason to expect I'll be any different.

My Father was 86 when he died. My Mother was just three weeks short of her 100th birthday. I am 92 and still feel half that age.
There is an old saying. "Treat today as though it is your last because one day it will be".
Live life as you want to live it and not as others want you to.

Quite agree with that, especially the final sentence. Some of my family reckon I should be doing this, that and everything else as I am retired. They fail to see that I have worked my backside off and had a lot of unexpected hassle over the last 40 years. Due to that it's been very hectic and wearing – now it's my time to relax and enjoy what I worked for in whatever way suits me!
