20 million of the more poorly paid to lose out under new Pension reforms.

This seemed to have been swept under the carpet.
The government quote " Data Protection " laws in excusing the fact that they have not informed anybody in writing before the changes become law.
Apparently those earning less than £15,000 a year were better provided for by Gordon Brown but this is not now financially viable so they will be the ones to bite the bullet.
Ros Altman is on the side of those who butter her bread.

Whenever the tories suggest anything is fairer they really mean the poorer people will lose out and the richer people will do better, they have an odd idea of what fairer means.

Not just women being affected now! Perhaps there'll be another petition going round soon!
I asked the DWP weeks ago for a pension forecast beginning 1970 to date, I think they may take a while!

Chris Noon, a partner at Hymans Robertson, told the Observer that research had revealed that while there would be winners among middle-to-higher earners from this April, the costs of these rises would fall on lower earners in the form of lower pensions in years to come for about 20 million people. “Within the private sector, it’s the low paid – those earning less than around £15,000 – that will be hit hardest. Gordon Brown made changes to the way the low paid accrue state pension, which resulted in employees with earnings below around £15,000 accruing relatively large amounts.

“Under the new rules, this population will be significantly affected. For example, for someone earning around £15,000 with a working life of 20 years, they will be looking at a drop of around £1,200 per annum. If that same person worked for 50 years they will be looking at £2,500 less per annum in state pension than they would have been entitled to under the old system.” Noon said more people would be affected than by cuts to tax credits. “With tax credits we’re seeing around three million people lose out, with a £4bn saving for the Treasury. With state pension changes, we’re seeing 20 million people lose, with an £8bn saving for the government.
I hope those 20 million people all decode not to vote Conservative at the next General Election .....

Pension terms will continue to be changed no matter who is in power. People really need to ditch this attachment to specific political parties. It really makes no difference who is in power.

Tories have a mindset of cutting benefits for the poor and everyone should be in full time work no matter what their disibility, labour doesn't they tend to look after people who cannot work. Big difference in mindset IMO.

Nulabour and tories were very similar though so it has looked like we had no choice but old labour which is making a comeback is very different.

Laughable really. This should tell you in no uncertain terms that political parties do not run the country. They tell you what you want to hear in order to get elected. Foolish saps in their armchairs believe the sound bites and vote for them. When the party comes to power everything changes.

Only the belligerent dinosaurs don't see this and are still locked into thinking that the old ways and systems are still how things work. Sadly things have long since changed.

Boris's declaration for BREXIT is testimony that politicians of all parties will say whatever is needed to get into power.
