Re: Batley and Spen by-election

I suppose a lot of our MPs have little previous experience e.g our present Minister of Education, Gavin Williamson was a fireplace salesman (and it shows!)
But they get a lot of advice and assistance from the civil servants.

Are you having a laugh, Xandra? If THAT was the case, then there would be no need for all the special advisors (SPADS) that Ministers and Shadow Ministers seem to need these days.

I'm not a fan of the bloke but despite experience or lack of it (and BTW Williamson was university-educated and a chair of the Conservative Students at one point too) Percy in his post earlier is spot-on about the so-called "assistance" from civil servants.
We have seen a few occasions recently which suggest that there are those civil servants who seem far more interested in self-serving quangoism than in being of any real assistance whatsoever, whether that be towards the British public or to our government.

I would vote for Galloway any time.

I always admired the way he stood up to that Senet committee back in 2005.

He is a piece of filth. His performance was disgusting and an embarrassment to the UK. Typical of a Glasgow thug.

Whenever George Galloway's name is mentioned I remember his meeting with Saddam Hussein in 1974 in which he lavished
praise on the Iraq dictator saying “I salute your courage, your
strength and your indefatigability."
