Nobblers!

What do you do with them?

Do you eat them? throw them away? Feed them to the birds/goldfish?

Re: Nobblers!

Ok, I'm gonna ask (and possibly regret) what is a Nobbler? Alexa keeps thinking I mean Nibble. Which I don't.

Haha! There's nothing wrong with a nibble that's for sure and it's funny that you ask because I have always known the ends of sliced bread as 'Nobblers'. but I understand there is some debate on this.

Slather it with butter. Yumm. Best bit of the loaf.

Re: Nobblers!

They are called "outsiders" up here. And the best bit of the loaf. It was always a fight in our house when the kids were here to see who got one first. Delicious toasted, slathered in butter. Plain bread, not pan. Which I don't think you get down south.

Re: Nobblers!

As my bread is home made, when I bake a loaf I tend to cut the ends off when warm and eat them

Agreed, best part of the loaf to toast IMHO. I've always called them "crusts".

But he also rounded up the names people offered: “So the end slice of a loaf is (according to you weirdos) — the knobby, knobby end, knob end, nobbly, knobbler, norbert, doormat, topper, nut end, noggie, noggin, ender, crust, butt, outsider, tush, doorstep, bumper, healie, nub, bum, bum end, knocker [all wrong] or heel .''
