They classify people and children who live in temporary accommodation as homeless. This is wrong and while their situation might not be ideal, they are not homeless.

Hi

Spot on Ffosse.

They are safe and secure, and, after assessment many are Intentionally Homeless, not paying their rent.

Oh so wrong!!! - people living in temporary accomodation are obviously homeless, because the accomodation is not 'secure'.

Not secure as in having no walls and a roof?

But they are not homeless - they have food, water, benefits and accommodation.

Without a 'secure' tenancy, that accomodation can be taken from them with very little notice, and they have no rights and no defence to an NTQ.

The council has a duty to house them unless they become troublesome and break all the rules...but they're still not homeless unless they want to be.

Oh I agree Uj, it opened my eyes going into temporary B and B recently, they people are in dreadful accommodation no where to go during the day, kids sleeping in same room as parents, doing homework on the floor or bed, no where proper to cook. I can't imagine Christmas for them.
